Klisidi

A large, sandy beach with clear blue waters set in a rocky landscape with a few tamarisk trees. It can be accessed by a 20 min walk from the port of Agios Nikolaos. Other neighboring swimming options include the small and secluded coves of Flamourou, Katsouni and Mikros Roukounas.

Monastery Archangelou Michail

Among the most beautiful of the many monasteries and churches found on Thasos, this one is dedicated to the island’s patron. Built on the edge of a cliff, it is a women’s convent that seems to cling just above the sea, offering superb views.

Alyki

This northern peninsula with the homonymous touristic settlement is worth visiting for its beautiful landscape, marvelous beach and important monuments. At the bottom of the sea lies a sunken ancient marble quarry, while near the shore you can see the relics of an ancient city (sanctuary, temple) and early Christian churches.

Picturesque mountain villages

Panagia, Potamia, Theologos, Kazaviti and others mentioned above are a definite must-see in Thasos (they are also a top attraction among the Greek islands). Untouched by tourism and modernity, they are guardians of the island’s traditions. These villages, each one with its own special history and characteristics, are truly unforgettable thanks to their natural beauties, Macedonian stone-and-slate architecture, customs, feasts, and so many more.

Sightseeing at Limenas

The remains of Thasos’ ancient city occupy the area of the port and beyond. Here, the highlights include Agora (the former political, cultural and religious centre of the island), temples, sanctuaries, basilicas, gates, the ancient theatre and the acropolis. Finish your tour with a visit to the town’s Archaeological Museum.
