Overview of Preveli

The most famous beach in Rethymno is exotic – and one of the best among the Greek islands, too. Located at Preveli lagoon, in a magnificent landscape where Kourtaliotiko gorge ends and river Megalopotamos empties into the sea, it is known as “Palm beach” (Finikas) because of a small grove of palm trees. It is a sandy, fairly crowded cove with crystalline waters. Nearby you can also visit the well-known, historic Monastery of Preveli, built into lush greenery.
